What Makes A Hydrafacial Better Than A Regular Facial?

Hydrafacial advances skin rejuvenation like no other cosmetic laser treatment. With its gentle exfoliation and extraction, this process is gentler on the skin than most regular facials. You will see its instant and long-lasting effects such as improved hydration, minimized dark spots, even a decrease in fine lines, and more.

How does the treatment work?

Hydrafacial takes less than one hour to complete the 3 steps that give you a gratifying glow.

1. CLEANSE + PEEL
Root out a new layer of skin with gentle exfoliation and resurfacing

2. EXTRACT + HYDRATE
Remove debris from pores with painless suction. Quench and nourish the skin with intense moisturizers

3. MELD + PROTECT
Maximize your skin’s surface with antioxidants and peptides

THE RESULTS: 5 Key Facts About The HYDRAFACIAL Treatment

  1. It delivers an instant, long-lasting glow and extremely consistent results for all skin types, tones, and structures.
  2. It works on resurfacing, cleansing, and exfoliating skin and extracts impurities evenly while delivering intensive serum for ultimate skincare.
  3. We combine manual and non-manual extraction to treat skin issues such as blackheads, whiteheads, and Milia (tiny white pimples or cysts).

Questions And Answers About The Treatment

Can you combine HydraFacial with other cosmetic treatments?

The combination therapy of HydraFacial and others such as Microneedling is like treating their skin from the inside out, yet they need to be spaced apart.

What should you not do before your treatment?
  1. Refrain from waxing, shaving the face, and using depilatories or exfoliating treatments.
  2. Do not use any topical product containing tretinoin, such as Retin-A, or acne medications, for at least 48 hours before your treatment.
  3. Stop using any medium or deep chemical peels or chemical resurfacing treatments and laser treatments for at least two weeks before treatment.
  4. Avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning for at least 72 hours before treatment.
What should you not do after the treatment?
  1. Keeping your face dry will protect your skin and ensure optimal results. You should refrain from washing your face for about six hours and avoid taking a shower or doing intense exercise that will cause you to sweat for about 6 hours after the treatment.
  2. Do not use beauty products that contain glycolic acid or other exfoliating ingredients for the next two days. Since your face will be bright and glowing, you will not need these skin products.
  3. Wear protective sunscreen for one week and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun for the upcoming 14 days.
For whom is the Hydrafacial, and what skin problems it addresses?

Hydrafacial is a great choice for all skin types. It can benefit even patients with sensitive skin types who cannot undergo laser or light therapy. Moreover, hydrafacial can be performed all year round, unlike laser and light therapy, which only works best outside of the summer months.

Hydrafacial addresses a range of skin concerns for patients of all ages. These include:

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Skin laxity and looseness
  • Skin texture
  • Brown or discoloured spots or hyperpigmentation on the face
  • Uneven complexion
  • Large, open pores
  • Oily and congested skin
  • Acne

The great news is that you can even add serum boosters to your Hydrafacial treatment, which can help address your unique skin concerns. These serums are very effective in tightening the pores, producing collagen, brightening skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, addressing pigmentation, and ensuring skin hydration and plumpness.

What are the contraindications and side effects of Hydrafacial?

Contraindications

Like all interventions, Hydrafacial comes with its set of contraindications:

  • Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should avoid this treatment.
  • Patients with active rash, sunburn, rosacea, or infection should avoid the treatment. This is because the treatment involves the use of hyaluronic acid, which can further irritate the skin.
  • Patients who use Accutane should discontinue its use for 12 weeks.
  • Patients who use chemical peels like AHA and Retin-A should discontinue use at least five days before the procedure.
  • Hydrafacial treatment should not be used to treat severe acne scarring.
  • Patients who have had their face waxed or undergone laser therapy should wait 14 days before getting the treatment.
  • Patients who have allergies to Glycolic acid should avoid the Hydrafacial treatment.

To understand whether the treatment is the best choice for you, we recommend having an initial consultation with our experienced aesthetic doctors in Geneva, who will guide you on what works best for your skin and create a personalized treatment plan.

Side Effects

The vast majority of patients tolerate Hydrafacial treatment extremely well. After the procedure, you may experience some mild redness, which will resolve on its own within a few hours to 24 hours.

In rare cases, patients may experience an allergic reaction to the products used during the treatment. However, our aesthetic doctors will make sure they get your complete medical history, any medications you are taking, and any allergies and sensitivities that you may have before your treatment. Therefore, we schedule a consultation beforehand to discuss these details, your expectations, and share with you the potential outcomes

What are the Steps of a Hydrafacial Session?

Hydrafacial treatment typically takes anywhere between 45 to 90 minutes to complete. In a single session, you will undergo the following steps:

  1. Cleansing and Exfoliation: The first step of the procedure is to use a Vortex cleansing and Hydra tip peel. Our aesthetician will use a cutting-edge Hydrafacial wand to blast fluid onto your skin, thoroughly cleaning it and exfoliating dead skin cells.
  2. Facial Peel: We will use the Hydrafacial wand to apply the facial peeling solution. This chemical exfoliation process will help remove debris and oil buildup lodging deep in your pores. We use a non-irritating blend of salicylic and glycolic acids to perform the cleansing. These acids are gentler on the skin than other chemical peels.
  3. Vacuum Suction Extraction: The next step is to use a Vortex vacuum suction to remove the impurities, blackheads, and whiteheads from your pores.
  4. Celluma Pro LED Therapy: Celluma Light Therapy uses advanced Professional Grade LED light therapy to address acne, fine lines, wrinkles, and even chronic pain. The penetrating light destroys acne-causing bacteria, reduces inflammation, and promotes healthier skin. In red light therapy mode, it enhances skin elasticity, diminishing fine lines and wrinkles. Celluma’s red and blue light wavelengths stimulate collagen and target oil glands, offering a comprehensive solution for anti-aging and acne reduction.
  5. Antioxidant Hydrating Serum: The treatment’s final step involves applying an antioxidant-hydrating serum. This serum is rich in peptides and vitamins that help soothe your skin and detoxify it by removing free radicals.
How many sessions do I need?

Our clients will see a marked difference in their skin even after a single session. However, we recommend taking a few sessions so your skin can fully absorb all the serums and nutrients for the best outcome. We recommend three to six Hydrafacial sessions spaced four weeks apart. However, the number of sessions depends on your unique skin characteristics and beauty goals.

How much time does it take to see results, and how long do they stay?

You will be able to see the effects of the treatment immediately after your first session. The results will fade after four to six weeks, so we recommend taking more than one session. You can add Hydrafacial to your monthly skincare routine for long-term skin quality and health.

Is Hydrafacial treatment painful?

Hydrafacial is not a painful treatment. Some patients may feel slightly tingling because the serum contains acids to cleanse their skin and remove dead cells.

How to choose the right skin treatment for you?

The Hydrafacial treatment at the Aesthetic Medicine Clinic is a versatile solution for patients requiring different skin care types, including anti-aging, anti-acne, skin lightening, skin tightening, or other treatments.

During the initial consultation, our aesthetic experts will assess the health and quality of your skin and create a Hydrafacial treatment plan exclusively for you. We understand that every person has unique skin, so your Hydrafacial treatment will be personalized according to your needs.
