Botulinum toxin (BOTOX) is a highly effective treatment used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, providing a smoother, more youthful look. This minimally invasive procedure involves precise injections that temporarily relax targeted muscles, smoothing out dynamic wrinkles caused by aging and facial expressions. At the Aesthetic Medicine Clinic, our leading expert doctors and certified injectors are here to help you achieve your beauty goals!
WHAT CAN BOTULINUM TOXIN INJECTIONS TREAT?
Thanks to botulinum toxin injections, we can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines in various areas.
Main injection areas include:
- Vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows (frown lines)
- Horizontal wrinkles on the forehead
- Wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet)
- Additionally, botulinum toxin (BOTOX) can also be used to treat Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), especially in the underarms, hands and feet.
Our experienced aesthetic doctors ensure that each treatment is tailored to your individual needs and beauty goals, offering natural-looking results.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE TREATMENT?
TREATMENT DESCRIPTION
When injected, botulinum toxin causes muscle relaxation in the treated areas. In cosmetic medicine, this procedure smooths away the more pronounced wrinkles that can make the face look tired or
bitter, thus restoring a naturally rested and relaxed appearance to the face.
This toxin helps to limit muscle contraction locally; hence the reason ” Botox ” is mainly used to treat expression lines on the face.
ANESTHESIA
Anesthetic cream (topical) if necessary.
TREATMENT DURATION
Following a detailed examination of the face, the doctor injects botulinum toxin into the determined areas.
The treatment lasts about 15 minutes. We use an automatic injector called the Juvapen. It allows a more precise pain-free treatment.
NUMBER OF SESSIONS PER TREATMENT
A session of botulinum toxin injection is followed by a touch-up appointment 15 days post-treatment.
SIDE EFFECTS
A slight transient asymmetry or heaviness in the eyelids. It is also possible to observe slight bruises, redness and to experience headaches. These side effects are all transient.
RESULTS
Results start to appear between 2 and 4 days after the injection. The effect of botulinum toxin gradually wears off and the muscles recover their function about 4 to 6 months after the injection. For this reason, we recommend repeating the treatment after every 4-6 months.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid?
Botulinum toxin (Botox) and hyaluronic acid serve different purposes in cosmetic treatments. Botox relaxes overactive muscles to reduce dynamic facial wrinkles like frown lines and crow’s feet, with effects lasting several months.
On the other hand, hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the body that is responsible for good structure and hydration. As we age, the quantity of hyaluronic acid decreases in the skin, leading to volume loss and static lines like nasolabial folds and wrinkles around the mouth. Hyaluronic acid injections restore volume loss and hydration providing immediate results that can last from up to twelve months, depending on the type of hyaluronic acid used as well as the treated area treated.
Both treatments are non-surgical and address different types of wrinkles, making them complementary in achieving a more youthful and natural appearance. Following a clinical examination, our aesthetic doctors will provide you with the best treatment plan for you.
How can Botox injection help treat excessive sweating?
Botox blocks nerve signals that stimulate sweat glands, reducing excessive sweating for several months.
How much does botulinum toxin (Botox) cost in Switzerland?
The treatment cost starts from CHF 500. For more details, check our prices & packages page.
Is botulinum toxin the same as BOTOX?
Botox® is the brand name for botulinum toxin. Other commonly known botulinum toxin type A injections include Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Jeuveau® to name a few.
What are the different types of wrinkles treated and where do they commonly appear?
Glabellar lines (called frown lines), horizontal forehead lines, and crow’s feet (smile lines around the eyes). Neck vertical platysmal bands may also be treated by botulinum toxin.
These wrinkles make us look older, angry or sad. By smoothing out these wrinkles using botulinum toxin you will have a younger, more refreshed natural appearance. In doing so we can prevent these dynamic (appear upon animation) expression wrinkles to become static permanent wrinkles (visible at rest also).
