Frequently Asked Questions
Treatment of wrinkles depends on their localization. Wrinkles of the forehead, glabellar lines (frown lines) and wrinkles around the eyes (Crow’s feet) are treated with Botox®. Fines lines elsewhere on the face are treated with either hyaluromic acid, PRP or fractional CO2 laser, after careful examination of the patient’s face.
Lip augmentation is a frequent request in our center with Hyaluronic acid. We use Juvederm Volift® for this treatment. Sometimes Juvederm Volbella® is used to enhance the lip border.
The mainstay of treatment for nasolabial folds and marionette lines is hyaluronic acid. The correct and uptodate treatment of nasolobial folds is mainly through an indirect approach (injection of the cheekbones and the lateral face). In some cases a direct approach may also be used. The marionette lines are directly injected with hyaluronic acid. In some cases Botox® may also be injected in the DAO (a muscle that lowers the corner of the mouth).
The treatment strategy depends on the cause and severity of the eyebags or tear trough. In most cases we use hyaluronic acid through indirect and sometimes a direct approach. In some cases PRP injections and /or fractional CO2 laser are used. In severe cases complete correction of the eyebags may require a surgical approach.
Profiloplasty is the treatment of the patient’s profile (forehead, nose, lip, chin but not necessarily all ) to bring some harmony. Hylauronic acid is used for this treatment.
This treatment is becoming more and more popular. It allows patients with small bumps or irregularities of the nose, to have a “nose-job” in 20 minutes with minimal downtime. The tretament is performed with Juvederm Voluma® a cohesive hyaluronic acid that can give structure to the nose. The treatment result lasts between 12 and 18 months.
Hyperpigmentation is a frequent complaint. Melasma (various causes including genetic, hormonal, pregnancy, and sun exposure) is the most difficult to treat. PIH (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentaion) is common following burns, injuries or laser treatments in patient with dark sin (Fitzpatrick IV-VI). Treatment options include creams (Kligman formula), PRP, lasers and peels.
We use CO2 laser for the treatment of solar lentigines. Sun exposure must be avoided after the treatment and sun screen SPF 50 must be used.
There have been major advances in the last few years in non-invasive body sculpting. We use multipolar radiofrequency (BTL Vanquish ME®) for abdominal liposculpting and monopolar radiofrquency combined with ultrasound (Exilis Ultra 360®) for liposculpting and skin tightening of hips, thighs abdomen, and many other areas. This technology is FDA approved with solid scientific documentation. The treatment is non-invasive, efficient with no pain and no downtime. Patients require a minimum 4 treatment sessions in order to obtain good results.
We use Exilis Ultra 360®, and FDA approved machine based on the technology of monopolar radiofrquency combined with ultrasound. One hand-piece is designed for facial skin tightening and the other one for body liposculpting and skin tightening.
Patients complaining of hair loss, should first have a blood screen for iron levels, vitamins (especially B group) and thyroid function. If no deficiencies or hormonal abnormalities are present, they are then candidates for RPP injections of the scalp. The injections are performed with a pain-free automatic injector (U225). For good results, patients require 4 sessions of treatment, 2-4 weeks apart.
