Chemical Peels

Chemical peels have been used in rejuvenate the skin for thousands of years. Chemical peels are effective in the treatment of various skin conditions giving the skin a nice glow, reducing wrinkles and pigmented spots.

Three type of peels are commonly used: superficial, medium and deep peels.

In our center, we use superficial and medium peels, composed of natural fruit acids (glycolic and citric acids) and lactic acid as well as pure vitamin C at a concentration of 27%.

The depth of penetration of chemical peels depends on he concentration and/or the type of peel that is used. We do not use deep peels at our centers becaus of important side-effects and significant downtime.

Peels may be combined to other aesthetic treatments such as PRP, and CO2 lasers.

Patients must be evaluated in order to assess the skin condition to be treated and select the most appropriate type of peel.

Treatment: the duration of a chemical peel session is around 30 to 45 minutes. We recommemd a treatment package of 4 sessions; treatment sessions take place every 7-14 days.

  • Side effects: after the chemical peel is applied the patient may feel a slight tingling sensation and brief heat, but no pain. During the following days, patients may notice slight desquamation (superficial skin peeling). There is no unpleasant feeling.
  • Contraindications: skin infection, allergies, eczema, skin irritation and important sun exposure before or after the peel.
  • Maintenance treatment: in order to maintain a durable result, we recommend to have a peel session every 6 to 8 weeks or as commended by your medical condition, to be discussed with the doctor.
